Upcoming Events at Great Horwood Church of England School and Seedlings Nursery - 3rd February 2025 Go to this Sway Hedgehog Rescue Centre
Everyone had a super day last Friday as we supported the Deanshanger Hedgehog rescue centre. We welcomed the centre to give us a talk all about hedgehogs and how to look after them. The MAD council worked their magic and the 'bring a soft toy' and the cake sale together raised £207 for this local charity. This is a huge achievement, so thank you to everyone who donated and brought in cakes. We would now really like a hedgehog house n the woodland area. Something for us to work on!
New Great Horwood School Website
I am delighted to inform you that we have a new school website. It went live this morning! I will be busy in the next few days to ensure all the information is up to date. However, if there is something missing that you can't find or think would be useful , please do let the school office know.

A reminder that the South East Police Cyber Crime unit are running a number of free webinars between now and half term to help parents and carers understand some of the risks young people face online, and how they can best protect themselves and their family from falling victim to cyber criminal behaviours. The webinar will cover social media, gaming and emails, and will give you tips and tricks to help you protect them in today’s online world.
Tickets are free and can be booked through this link: South East Police Cyber Crime Unit Events - 13 Upcoming Activities and Tickets | Eventbrite. If you could email in and let us know if you have watched one so we can add it to our records.
Punctuality
I wanted to make you aware that early morning learning starts as soon as the children arrive in school. For some children this will be 8.35am. However, we have an increasing number of children arriving late, after 8.45am, once the gate is closed. This means that they are missing early morning work as they are not arriving into class until 8.50am or later. If your child arrives in school after 8.45am they could potentially be missing 1 hour 15 minutes each week of learning. Over the school year this would be 47.5 hours. Please help us to support your child by aiming to be in school on time so that your child can start their learning for the day by 8.45am. Your support in this would be greatly appreciated.
